FAQS

You Ask - I Answer

WHO AM I?

As a LMFT-C I have been educated and trained to work with individuals, couples, and entire families. My insight is a bit different than a traditional therapist in that I am trained to look at, not only the individual sitting in my office, but the entire context within which that individual, or individuals, function.  My training takes into consideration the culture, family, and transgenerational worldviews that are at play in any given situation.

WHAT APPROACH DO YOU USE?

Just as no two cases are the same, no two treatments are the same.  I draw from a variety of schools of thought and techniques when working with clients.  Often, the initial work begins with using skills from the CBT and DBT approaches to help individuals bring down their emotional responses to ones that are more manageable.  Beyond working to "quiet the storm," so to speak, I use a combination of Solution Focused Family Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, as well as some of the Transgenerational Models.  My work comes from a strengths-based approach, and I work to help individuals, couples, and families, to capitalize on what tools they may already have.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

I am not a member of any insurance boards.  I enjoy having the flexibility of treatment that is, sometimes, not available when working with insurance boards. However, I do encourage clients who have insurance to reach out to their carrier and ask if they reimburse for LMFT-C services.

WHAT AGE GROUPS DO YOU WORK WITH?  DO YOU WORK WITH TEENS?

While I am able to work with all age groups, I find that I am strongest in working with individuals older than 13.

Yes, I do work with teens.  In fact, teens make up a large portion of my practice, and I am happy to have them.
